4th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show Benefits Local Bean Bag Food Program

June 21, 2017

On Sunday, June 6, FIFS hosted our 4th Annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show.  Despite the threat of rain, we had a great turnout of over 60 cars, trucks, and motorcycles attending the show.  Our partnership with the East Penn Modifiers Club enables us to host several car shows, and to be a part of the larger car show circuit managed by the club.  Trophies were presented to the top 20 vehicles, as well as 5 special trophies for Kids’ Choice, Ladies’ Choice, East Penn Modifiers Club Pick, FIFS Staff Pick, and Best of Show.  There were also door prizes, a 50/50, and raffle prizes to win.  Food for the event was provided by The Smoke Factory BBQ and music by Crowd Pleasers Entertainment Services.

The show generated over $1,000 that will go to support The Bean Bag Food Program of Zion Mennonite Church, providing weekend meal bags for local elementary students who are “food insecure”.  Zion Mennonite Church has piloted this program in partnership with neighborhood schools E. M. Crouthamel, Franconia, and West Broad Street Elementary.  Students, most who qualify for free or reduced lunches, will receive a food bag to take home for the weekend which includes two breakfast meals, two lunches, and healthy snacks for the weekend.  The mission of The Bean Bag Program is to help children receive needed nutrition so they can return to school on Monday, ready to learn.

Thanks to everyone who attended the show and donated to this great, local cause.  We even received donations of canned goods and cereal that were taken to Keystone Opportunity Center for distribution to local families.  FIFS feels blessed to be a part of such a caring and generous community.  We are already making plans for our next show, the “Chilly Cruise” on Sunday, November 5th from 2:00-6:00pm under the lights.  We invite you to join us!
